Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is a type of block or blend polymer material formed by physically cross-linking (such as microphase separation) between a hard segment plastic phase and a soft segment rubber phase. It can be regarded as a “hybrid of plastic processing and rubber elasticity” - it forms physical cross-linking points (similar to chemical vulcanization) by the hard segment binding the soft segment molecular chains at room temperature. Therefore, it combines the high elasticity, soft touch, and fatigue resistance of traditional rubber, while also being able to melt and flow like thermoplastic polymers at high temperatures, being recyclable and reusable for processing, and can be molded without vulcanization. It is widely used in automotive sealing strips, sports shoe soles, toothbrush handles, medical tubes, wire and cable sheaths, toys, and sealing components, etc., in situations that require elasticity, comfort, and efficient processing.
