Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fully fluorinated linear thermoplastic polymer formed by the polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene monomers. It can be regarded as a “non-stick coating and chemically inert ceiling” - it forms an extremely stable molecular structure through the extremely high bond energy of carbon-fluorine bonds and the shielding effect of fluorine atoms on the main chain. Therefore, it is almost not corroded by any solvents, acids, bases or oxidants (even aqua regia cannot erode it), and has a very wide temperature resistance range (-200°C to 260°C), as well as the lowest friction coefficient among all solid materials (0.04) and excellent self-lubrication, non-stickiness and electrical insulation. PTFE can not only be used for long-term operation in extreme conditions, but also can be molded through processes such as sintering and die-casting, and is widely used in aerospace sealing parts, chemical pipeline linings, electronic high-frequency cable insulation layers, non-stick coating, medical implants (artificial blood vessels, heart patches), and mechanical sliders, etc., which are demanding situations requiring high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and anti-stick lubrication.
