Polycarbonate (PC) is a linear thermoplastic engineering plastic with a main chain composed of bisphenol A and carbonate groups (-O-(C=O)-O-). It can be regarded as “light-transmitting and impact-resistant bulletproof glass” - it forms molecular chains with high flexibility and rigidity through ester exchange or phosgene polymerization, thus having an extremely high light transmittance (close to 90%), excellent impact toughness (hundreds of times stronger than ordinary glass, even better than many metals), a wide range of operating temperatures (-100°C to 130°C), as well as good electrical insulation and dimensional stability. Polycarbonate is not only easy to be injection-molded, extruded and thermally formed, but also can be blended and modified with glass fibers, flame retardants, etc., and is widely used in electronic and electrical products (mobile phone casings, optical discs, charger housings), automotive industry (lamp lenses, panoramic sunroofs), building lighting (sunlight panels, endurance panels), safety protection (bulletproof glass, helmet face masks, goggles), and medical equipment (dialysis tank casings, infusion connectors), etc., in occasions that require high transparency, high impact resistance and lightweight.
